At Medlock, we recognise the importance of promoting positive mental health and emotional wellbeing to our students and their families. We have an open culture with discussing wellbeing, and we encourage and empower our students to identify and regulate their emotions.
To do this, we have implemented Zones of Regulation across school - from Nursey 1 through to Year 6.
Zones of Regulation helps children to categorise their emotions into four colour zones.
Children learn strategies to help support them in returning to the green zone. Children build to using these strategies independently across their time at school.
Children learn that all zones are normal, and there are no 'bad' zones.
Children have opportunities throughout the day to 'check-in' with their zones and to use strategies as and when they are needed.
