School Council

Welcome to our School Council!

At Medlock Primary School, we respect and value the fundamental British value of democracy and ensure the views and opinions of our pupils are expressed. At the beginning of September, the children select school council members  from each year group. All pupils are invited to stand as School Council representatives and are voted for fairly and democratically by their peers. Members also have the opportunity to take on administrative responsibilities such as: chair, vice-chair and secretary.

The School Council  meets every two weeks to discuss issues raised by the children and  ideas  to help improve our school even further. Members of the School Council, alongside other Pupil Leaders are invited to attend Governors Meetings at least annually to share their ideas about ways to make school improvements. We believe our School Council is very effective in helping bring about positive changes in the life of our school! We are often joined by members of other Pupil Leadership teams in our meetings, for example our fundraising committee or subject leaders.

If you have any ideas or suggestions to help improve our school, please see your class council reps, who will bring your suggestions to the next School Council meeting.

Manchester hotels were going to house some of these families.

Our Year 6 Medlock Charity Leaders began discussions about what we could do to help. Care 4 Calais were contacted.

They suggested a wonderful idea of creating ‘Welcome’ boxes for all the young children, who would be arriving in a new country with very little. Though the generosity of our community families and the children, so many donations were sent in.

The children organised the boxes into care packages of toiletries, books, stationary, toys and sweet treats. They were wrapped and covered  in warm messages. Your kindness continued in the many clothes and footwear that we received.

The  delivery driver could not believe the load.  The children helped to pack it all up.

Again, a huge thank you to our families as without you this would not have been possible.
